MULTI-CLASS ATHLETES INFORMATION
Athletes with a disability are welcome to join our club.
In Little Athletics, athletes with a disability are referred to as 'multi-class' athletes.
Over the past few years we have had a number of very successful multi-class athletes represent our club and bring home State medals.
We aim to provide an inclusive environment in which barriers to involvement are removed and all people with a disability feel welcome and comfortable to participate.
It may be as simple as using a lighter shot put, using a flexi-bar for high jump or using a different starting method on the track.
If your child has a disability and there is something further we can do to support them or you would like to know pathways that are available for them please come and have a chat to our Centre Manager on Friday night or send an email to [email protected].
Athletes with a disability are able to apply for a 'classification' from Little Athletics Australia, which allows them to compete as a multi-class athlete at Regional and State Championships. Classification exists to create a “fair” competition amongst athletes of different disabilities.
