They have the option of direct nomination to the LAQ’s State Championships for the specific para-events. They are also eligible to compete in able bodied events, provided they have qualified through their relevant Regional Championship. What are Regional Championships?
Our Sun Coast Region includes the following centres: Bli Bli, Bribie Island, Caboolture, Deception Bay, Glasshouse, Gympie, Maleny, Maroochy, Nambour, Nanango, Noosa, South Burnett, University, Wamuran and Cooloola Coast and Caloundra. Regional Championships primary role is to provide a friendly Regional Competition for all athletes in the U7 - U17 age groups. Each athlete is allowed to compete in a maximum of 5 events over the two day championships Under 7's & 8's who compete at the Regional Championships will receive a Participation Medal but do not progress to State Championships Qualifying for State Championships U9 - U17

McDonalds State Championships
DATE: Friday 19th - Sunday 21st March
VENUE: Queensland Sport & Athletics Centre (QSAC), Nathan, Brisbane
Competitors from U9 –U17 who qualify at Regional Championships are entitled to compete at State Championships.
The carnival is held over a full weekend from Friday night through to Sunday afternoon.
The U13 State Team (26 athletes - 13 Boys and 13 Girls) is selected at these Championships.
