2020/21 CENTER MANAGERS REPORT
Firstly I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all the current committee, who have done an outstanding job of making this season successful.
You are all the backbone of such a great club, on and off the track & field. I know many of you put in lots of hours outside the Friday comp. night which is truly appreciated.
I would like to acknowledge this, as I know it can be a thankless task, but you are the ones that have made our club family orientated and enjoyable.
It has been a great experience and very rewarding volunteering with you all. Special mention must also go to Jenny and Peter Haig for their assistance to me personally this season as Centre Manager.
This season we have had 200 athletes compete at the centre.
It has been a challenging season with the loss of lighting on Friday competition night. However athlete attendance has been outstanding with the earlier starts!!
A BIG well done to athletes and parents for making the extra effort.
A Funding application have been submitted in partnership with AFLQ for $280,000 green field lighting, we will hear an outcome in August.
In the interim the AFL and CLAC continue to source solutions with local council regarding the lighting situation.
We had a very successful Open day with 400 athletes attending.
At every athletics carnival I attended visiting families gave me positive feedback. “It was well organised and everyone was so friendly”. It easy to be proud of our volunteers and athletes efforts.
CLAC had an awesome run at the Regional and State Relays with many teams representing CLAC and doing us proud.
It was a fun ‘team Caloundra’ day with many athletes shining wearing the blue and yellow centre colours.
The weather we all thought was going to be the greatest obstacle at Regional Champs getting postponed several times.
It was such a suspense builder… and when we finally got there we saw many records broken.
All to culminate in the cancellation of State Champs with COVID- 19.
I was impressed with athlete resilience and tenacity at such a disappointing announcement.
My favourite season event still remains the Combined Event held at SAF, Brisbane.
Athletes are set multiple events – triathlons, pentathlons and are encouraged to try a new event whilst making new friends.
Each year we have attended my sons have tried new events and made new friends or we have caught up with old friends!
Currently we are on pause for presentation day, but I am just bursting to announce trophy & award winners! I have so much great & exciting news to share with you all.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Marc to the Centre Manager role for upcoming season 20-21.
I am certain Marc will bring a great deal of skill to the position. Peter is taking a well-earned break.
But I am not going anywhere, I will remain on the executive committee.
You will see me getting athletes to events as the Assistant Team Manager or you will hear from me in cyberspace when I am posting the newsletter.
Thank you Nay Menner 19/20 Centre Manager
