What are Regional Relays? Relays are a FUN ALL DAY Competition for all athletes Under 7 to under 17 Our SunCoast Region consists of 15 centres Cooloolah Coast; Gympie; Noosa; Bli Bli; Maroochy; University; Glass House; Bribie Island; Decpetion Bay; Caboolture; Nanango; Sth Burnett; Wamuran; Nambour and Caloundra All our athletes U7 to U17 are encouraged to nominate and compete as relay TEAM'S against the other centres. Some athletes will be asked to fill in other age groups but this adds to the Caloundra Little Athletics Team Spirit .... the best result of the day!! U7’s and U8’s compete in two field events and one track event. Their day will finish around lunch time. They can’t qualify for states but they will be presented with a participation medal on the day! U9 to U17's compete in up to 5 events with teams placing 1st to 3rd being eligible to compete at the State Relay Championships in December. NOTE: U9 to U17 athletes who nominate at the Regional Relays should also be available to compete in the all day LAQ State Relays Championships in Brisbane usually held in mid December. It’s very exciting when a team makes it through to the State Championships and disappointing when they have to pull out as Team member can’t make it ... Please make sure you are able to commit to both dates. Car pooling is always a fun option!!! What's involved Athletes nominate in any Age Eligible Events but as it is a team based competition they may be asked to join other age groups to make up team numbers. Track teams - 4 athletes and the events range from 70m shuttle races to Medley (200m;200m;400m;800m) Swedish (100m;300m;200m;400m) depending on the age group. Field Teams - All athletes compete in the field events as per usual. |
