Most Improved Award
One of the aims in Little Athletics is to improve individual athletic performance and to provide incentives for athletes to improve through collaboration with “Family, Fun and Fitness”. Everyone likes to win, but not all are able to. All however are capable of improving and achieving a worthwhile standard. Our Most Improved Award is therefore aimed at recognising and rewarding improvers, not just winners. Centre Manager’s Award
This Perpetual Shield is awarded by the Centre Manager to parent/s who have become involved and taken a strong interest in centre activities, shown good sportsmanship and encouragement of the athletes throughout the season. Team Manager’s Perpetual Award
Must have competed as a representative of Caloundra Little Athletics in a minimum of 2 of the following competitions Caloundra Open Day, Regional Relays and/or Regional Championship and be aged U7 or older. Selected by the Team Manager, this award is presented to the athlete who during the season epitomises the Caloundra Little Athletics mantra of Fun, Family and Fitness whilst representing the Club. This person should also have displayed one or more of the following traits: a higher than expected level of sportsmanship, excelled well above their normal levels, is well respected by their peers and opposition, displayed respect to coaches and officials and offer encouragement to teammates. Katey Brassey Coach's Award
Katey Brassey loved attending training as an athlete. But a significant injury lead to a in focus and at 14 she became a junior coach. The award is selected by our coaches and is an athlete who regularly attends training, shows respect, listens and tries their hardest to do what the coach shows them. They practice what they are shown and are happy to help their friends with tips and tricks they have learnt. |
Caloundra RSL Merit Awards
These awards have been introduced to acknowledge the talents of young athletes and provide incentive for these athletes to continue with their athletics. Junior Champion/Senior Champion Perpetual Shields
The recipients of the Junior/Senior Champion will be the male and female athlete with the highest combined points totalled from our Most Improved Award as well points tallied from our McDonalds awards system. Julie-Anne Heness Award
This Perpetual Shield awarded by Keith Heness to an athlete from Under 8’s to Under 17’s who has been involved in the Club for a minimum of 3 years and displays the true spirit of little athletics. The award is not restricted to athletic ability as demonstrated on the track and field. However, recipients must have enthusiasm for all activities and participate in all events, which will be shown by regular attendances at Centre and Regional competitions, LAQ carnivals and training nights etc. Jess Haig Captain’s Encouragement Award
SELECTED BY CLUB CAPTAINS Criteria
In 2013 Jessica Haig proposed the establishment of a perpetual Encouragement Award for the junior members of Caloundra Little Athletics. “I have been a member of the Caloundra Little Athletics Club for over 10 years and have thoroughly loved the people, competition, sportsmanship, atmosphere and challenging myself. I would like to give back to the club that has given me such a wonderful grounding in athletics and camaraderie. I remember in my early days at CLAC in some events I was not able to achieve what the other athletes of my age could attain – but I was always enthusiastic, persistent and wanted to constantly improve. Because of this attitude I have continued to grow as a person and as an athlete and am now able to perform competitively at a high level in the sport, whilst still loving every minute of it.” Jessica Haig |
