U7 to U17 SUNCOAST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 21/22 - UPDATE

HOST: ​Little Athletics Queensland (LAQ)
LOCATION: QSAC, Nathan, Brisbane
DATE: Friday 11th to Sunday 13th March

Multi-Class athletes 
Multi-class athletes are able to compete at Regional Championships and can qualify for State Championship
Athletes do not need to place at the Regional Championships to progress to the LAQ State Championships. 
They have the option of direct nomination to the LAQ’s State Championships for the specific para-events.  
They are also eligible to compete in able bodied events, provided they have qualified through their relevant Regional Championship.

What are Regional Championships?
​
Our Sun Coast Region includes the following centres: Bli Bli, Bribie Island, Caboolture, Deception Bay, Glasshouse, Gympie, Maleny, Maroochy, Nambour, Nanango, Noosa, South Burnett, University, Wamuran and Cooloola Coast and Caloundra.

Regional Championships primary role is to provide a friendly Regional Competition for all athletes in the U7 - U17 age groups. 

Each athlete is allowed to compete in a maximum of 5 events over the two day championships

 Under 7's & 8's who compete at the Regional Championships will receive a Participation Medal but do not progress to State Championships

Qualifying for State Championships U9 - U17
  • Athletes placing 1st; 2nd; 3rd or 4th qualify for State Championships. 
  • If you qualify please advise our Team Manager, if you would like to nominate for the State Championships 
  • Athletes who compete in a final at the Regional Championships and achieve the qualifying performance level for that event will also qualify for the state championships.

On the day, what you should know
  • Caloundra athletes are to arrive at the CLAC tent and advise Team Manager, 45mins before their first event start time, remember to allow time for parking. 
  • All events start times can be brought forward by 30 minutes.
  • Caloundra will be allocated an event such as Girls Long Jump, which we will be required to run for the ENTIRE Championships. 
ALL Caloundra parents will be EXPECTED to help run this event at some point during the weekend.      Do expect to be asked to help.
  • When your athlete has completed all their events on the day/s and you have helped at the Caloundra assigned event sign out at the Caloundra tent
  • On the final afternoon please stay and help committee pack up the Caloundra area, tents etc.
  • REMEMBER - to pack sunscreen; hat and plenty of water.
  • There will be a canteen and a first aid officer at the venue.

LAQ General Regional Championship information

McDonalds State Championships
DATE: Friday 11th - Sunday 13th March 
VENUE: Queensland Sport & Athletics Centre (QSAC), Nathan, Brisbane 
​
Competitors from U9 –U17 who qualify at Regional Championships are entitled to compete at State Championships.
The carnival is held over a full weekend from Friday night through to Sunday afternoon.

The U13 State Team (26 athletes - 13 Boys and 13 Girls) is selected at these Championships.
